Contes et légendes avec Joséphine Bacon
Poète, réalisatrice, documentariste, parolière, traductrice, conteuse et enseignante Innu-Aimun, Joséphine Bacon est une innue originaire de Pessamit. Elle est une auteure phare du Québec de renommée internationale et une grande ambassadrice de la culture des Premières Nations au Québec et à l’étranger.
Très engagée sur la scène littéraire et artistique autochtone, elle inspire aux jeunes générations la fierté d’être autochtone et la volonté de défendre leur langue et leur culture. Traductrice-interprète et enseignante depuis 40 ans de l’innu-aimun (la langue innue) Joséphine Bacon a voué sa vie à l’écoute et à la transmission du savoir des aînés. Elle écrit en parcourant les kilomètres de sa mémoire où sont enregistrés les récits des ancêtres à qui elle servait d’interprète.
Depuis l’automne 2023, elle agit aussi à titre d’Aînée en résidence à l’UQAM. Joséphine Bacon dit souvent d’elle-même qu’elle n’est pas poète, mais que dans son cœur nomade et généreux, elle parle un langage rempli de poésie où résonne l’écho des anciens qui ont jalonné sa vie.
Performance par Malorie Y. Picard
Malorie est née à Trois-Rivières en 1984, elle a grandi en Estrie et habite sur le territoire non cédé Tiöhtià:ke depuis l’âge de 16 ans. Mère d’un fils unique à 20 ans et ainée d’une famille soudée de cinq filles, elle est liée à la nation wendat par son père adoptif.
Artiste multi non disciplinée, elle poursuit présentement une maîtrise (recherche-création) en études littéraires dans laquelle elle s’intéresse à la non voyance et l’art visuel. Elle fait des pas vers la communauté wendat depuis 2023 dans un désir de participer à la reliance, à la résurgence de la culture wendat pour elle et sa famille ainsi que par souhait de décoloniser sa manière d’appréhender le monde.
DJ Señor Kiko
DJ Señor Kiko a été le DJ résident aux Soirées ART•CULTURE autochtones. Señor Kiko est un DJ montréalais originaire de Mexico. DJ Señor Kiko présente le nouveau son électronique latin avec des rythmes tels que Tribal, Tropical Bass et Nu Cumbia, influencés par des labels sud-américains tels que ZZK Records, Regional Label et Terror Negro.

Tales and legends with Joséphine Bacon
Innu-Aimun poet, filmmaker, documentary filmmaker, lyricist, translator, storyteller and teacher, Joséphine Bacon is an Innu from Pessamit. She is a leading Quebec author of international renown and a great ambassador of First Nations culture in Quebec and abroad.
Deeply involved in the Aboriginal literary and artistic scene, she inspires younger generations to be proud of being Aboriginal and to defend their language and culture. A translator-interpreter and teacher of Innu-aimun (the Innu language) for 40 years, Joséphine Bacon has devoted her life to listening to and passing on the knowledge of her elders. She writes as she travels the miles of her memory where the stories of the ancestors to whom she served as interpreter are recorded.
Since autumn 2023, she has also been acting as Elder in Residence at UQAM. Joséphine Bacon often says of herself that she’s not a poet, but that in her nomadic, generous heart, she speaks a language filled with poetry that echoes the elders who have marked her life.
Performance by Malorie Y. Picard
Malorie was born in Trois-Rivières in 1984, grew up in the Eastern Townships and has lived on the unceded Tiöhtià:ke territory since the age of 16. Mother of an only son at 20 and eldest of a close-knit family of five daughters, she is linked to the Wendat nation by her adoptive father.
A multi-disciplined artist, she is currently pursuing a master’s degree (research-creation) in literary studies, in which she is interested in blindness and visual art. Since 2023, she has been reaching out to the Wendat community out of a desire to participate in the connection and resurgence of Wendat culture for herself and her family, as well as a desire to decolonize her way of seeing the world.
DJ Señor Kiko
DJ Señor Kiko was the resident DJ at the Soirées ART-CULTURE autochtones. Señor Kiko is a Montreal DJ originally from Mexico. DJ Señor Kiko presents the new Latin electronic sound with rhythms such as Tribal, Tropical Bass and Nu Cumbia, influenced by South American labels such as ZZK Records, Regional Label and Terror Negro.
